Breath Control
Breath Control
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Ok, to clear some things up.. I know Scorpion made it clear on a few things, of breath control.. But I dont quite think he knows enough to make a *huge* difference.. Well I do, for those who dont know.. I'm a beatboxer, that requires percise breath control.. Breath Control is actually an excersize that are given in some singing lessons.. I teach my students Breath Control, when I teach beatboxing.. Yes, it can be learned.. Secondly, Scorpion made it clear on some good steps to take with it, but here is an advanced breakdown of one of the most important things when being a musician.. Breath Control, ah... A fine art and display of talent.. To acquire methods of breath control, practice these steps for yours, and additional purpose. 1.) The art of breathing alone can be tiresome.. When you can't spit that first verse/beatbox out the way you want it.. Cause your tones fuck up from yelling/spitting to much and running out of air... Well, I got the thing for you to acquire a very nice technique. Now, for the excersize.. Do this about 5 times per day, and about 20 minutes each shot.. Thats 1 hour out of your day, do it before you goto bed at night if you have to... But breath out fast, and keep breathing untill your lungs are completely empty.. Hold that position, I know it hurts.. And makes you feel like your lungs are ready to cave in.. But hold it for a good 5 seconds, gotta start off slow.. This is actually dangerous to do, so make sure you FOLLOW THE GUIDELINES EXACTLY! You can be hurt doing this excersize, if you hold for to long your lungs could possibly cave-in.. Or you could do damage to your esophogus... So do this cautiously, again.. Breath all your air out, hold it for 5 seconds... Breath all your air in, hold it for 10 seconds.. Take a good breather, and repeat the sequence for 20 minutes.. Do this daily, within 4-6 weeks you'll see great results... What this does actually, is makes your lungs strong.. There attatched to tissue, surrounded by muscles, this helps the muscles get warm and fresh oxygen, allowing them to work more effectively and longer.. Doing this will allow stronger flow, and add to your energy and the delivery you spit with.. You will improve most def, 5x's more then what you are today.... Now if you smoke, I suggest quit smoking.... And if you smoke weed, I suggest you dont smoke alot of it.. Maybe a couple joints a day, maybe 4-5. Thats better then 1/2 packs of cigarettes a day. Believe me, I use to smoke.. And couldnt beatbox for shit because of it, then I started cutting down.. From 2 packs a day to 1, now I only smoke a cigarette if i'm high as ballz.. But im still gonna QUIT, but word with your breathing. The faster you can force your lungs empty, or full.. The faster and better you'll become and ryding a beat's tempo... Another technique you can practice, is beatboxing in general... For anyone who's heard me, you know I got skill Haha, so.. Just listen to some rahzel, or someone like Twista or Krayzie Bone.. All 3 MC's can spit long, and work there lungs really fast.... Allowing great speed/accurate flow on the beat.. Or Rahzel's just come out very nicely... Practice these steps, and you should see results soon.. Again, start small... |

very good shit...another thing that helps is having your shit memorized so well that you could rap it in your sleep...a lot of kats memorize it, but not to every last 64th of a note, and some read off a notepad while rapping...you write the verse the way you want it, and spit it veeery slowly, to figure where all the possible breath points are...keep in mind when you are writing a verse that you need to include these, as sometimes it's easy to write eight bars that are just nonstop spitting, and where's the breathing? you can use these breath points to accentuate the flow, and most don't need to be very big at all...if you know you've got a four-line segment halfway thru the verse that has no breathing points in it, somewhere just before it starts you should incorporate a good long pause (long pause may only be a quarter or eighth of a beat, keep in mind)...
more than anything else though, spit it to yourself 2,000 times...i know that sound crazy, but at 2,000 repititions anything you do becomes wired into your brain, so if you've spit that verse a couple thousand times, you will have figured out every little nook and cranny you can fit a quick inhale in, as sometimes it comes down to finding little almost unnoticeable spots to suck in just a tad bit of air, and that's what makes the difference...as far as beatboxing, that shit's even harder to control your breath with...i beatbox some, not my biggest talent, but that's how i come up with the beats i make, and it's fucking hard to control your breathing for a whole song...
